Man I am mighty curious about the process behind these wonderful GIfstrips you and Lacey have been doin'! Like, how much improvisation is there within the process, like, do you give her the layouts, or do you both work on 'em, and then for some of them do you just give a vague prompt, like, "The nineties," and then it's up to Lacey to decide whose face goes in the panel, OR BASICALLY ANYTHING ELSE these are cool and I want to know more!!

The way we’ve done it has been a bit of a learning experience for me! At first I sent Lacey some very rough layouts of the pages, with a vague idea of what I was looking for. She started asking about specifics (because she is a goddamn pro) and I realized how much tighter things needed to be. Since then we’ve met a few times and written a bunch of e-mails to clarify things along the way.

For the most part the art has been our own respective decisions, within the confines of the story and theme. I send Lacey all my finished line art and she takes it from there.

Comics are a tricky thing to collaborate on, and the fact that you see an improvisational aspect to what we’ve made is very flattering! Admittedly the Furby was a huge (and delightful) surprise to me.
