The way we’ve done it has been a bit of a learning experience for me! At first I sent Lacey some very rough layouts of the pages, with a vague idea of what I was looking for. She started asking about specifics (because she is a goddamn pro) and I realized how much tighter things needed to be. Since then we’ve met a few times and written a bunch of e-mails to clarify things along the way.
For the most part the art has been our own respective decisions, within the confines of the story and theme. I send Lacey all my finished line art and she takes it from there.
Comics are a tricky thing to collaborate on, and the fact that you see an improvisational aspect to what we’ve made is very flattering! Admittedly the Furby was a huge (and delightful) surprise to me.
